Stopover in Nouakchott TK593

I'm planning a trip to Dakar, Senegal. The best way to get there is by Turkish Airlines, Istanbul - Dakar. This flight is shown as a direct flight, but has a stopover in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The flight number is TK593 from Istanbul to Dakar. It stays in Nouakchott for one hour, so I would think that passengers are waiting in the plane when going to Dakar, but I don't know this. I tried to ask Turkish Airlines, but they only referred me to the embassy, which I don't think will be helpful at this question.

On the general info about Nouakchott on this site it says:
"International Clearance Status" - "Airport of Entry"
I'm not sure what this means, or if it is of any importance to my question.
Anyway, any help here would be great.

My question is: Do I need a visa to Mauritania?
