: : how much jet fuel does a jet burn in 1hr?
: If you mean a jet aircraft, like an airliner, then:
: That depends upon its design, weight, the altitude of flight, the temperature and pressure at that altitude, and a number of other factors. The L-1011 Lockheed TriStar early series (100) aircraft I remember could be roughly counted upon to burn about 12000 pounds of Jet fuel to altitude (30000-40000 feet), 15000lb per hour at cruise and 7500 pounds on descent - for the last half hour. A trip London - Bombay (now Mumbai) would thus take about 185 thousand pounds of JetA for the simple burn (not counting reserves etc).
: The simple answer for that aircraft was 5000 pounds per engine per hour at cruise. Later designs have shaved about 10% off that.
