I mentioned before that I was considering making this a pay site to cover costs. Well, I'm now in the process of doing just that. The existing (free) site will be scaled down to include only the "General Info" section of each airport record. There will be a "members"
area that will include all of the details currently on the site. The cost will be $5 a month to access the members section.
I spent a lot of time trying to find an alternative means of financing this project. I've had a couple of opportunities to partner with companies capable of providing financial support, but I didn't want someone else's bottom line to be what controlled how I do
things. The main purpose of this site is try to contribute to aviation safety by making this type of data more accessible. And I hope that it can also save you money by helping you find a more efficient route.
Charging for access will not only insure that the site will be available 24/7 for years to come, but it will provide the means to expand and improve the site. If there was another way, I would have found it.
I know that many of you use this site in your jobs on a daily basis. I really hope that you will support me in this. It will help me to continue to be here for you, as I have been for the last two years.
